anyway, this means that my time spent on tumblr will be severely minimized.

There is a lot of controversy behind the real ulterior motives behind KONY 2012. A lot of people believe that KONY 2012 is a scam; some people believe it’s legit.

Invisible Children has technically been around for years, working on awareness campaigns. People doubt IC’s motives because they’ve been around for so long and are choosing to explode NOW. You can tell that the man heading the movement has good intentions, but a lot of people are questioning the movement in general.

My message to everyone: Do your appropriate research. Not just for KONY 2012, but all charity organizations you plan on giving to or supporting. A lot of the controversy comes from this blog: visiblechildren.tumblr.com They have a lot to say, and a lot of what they say makes sense. It coincides with what KONY 2012 has in their video. There are also a lot of other articles, which could be quickly found just by searching Google.

Also, people are very skeptical about using the phrase “the world’s worst criminal” to describe Joseph Kony. It is true that he’s a sick, twisted man, and needs to be stopped. But over-exaggeration leads to desensitization, which means that eventually people stop caring. Kony is no Hitler nor a Stalin, but we can all agree that he’s a criminal, and a pretty bad one at that. He uses children armies, which means annihilating his army would mean killing thousands of innocent children. The girls are sold and traded as sex slaves. In conclusion, Joseph Kony is a bad man, but not the worst the world has ever seen.

But I urge everyone to help in their own way and as they see fit. Perhaps a really credible organization to help the LRA and stop Joseph Kony will rise, maybe not. Maybe the world will continue to let Kony run rampant, just like a lot of other criminals in Africa have been doing.

It’s your own incentive and prerogative to do what is right. Make your own opinion. I’m just trying to provide unbiased opinions to KONY 2012; both the good and the bad.
